Spaghetti Hollow

Spaghetti Hollow
247 Wyndham St, Shepparton, 3630 VIC
Very pleasant pasta house in central Shepparton. The pasta menu is split into tomato based sauces and creamy sauces, which if you have a particular preference makes it easy, but there were very few other dishes. I initially selected mussels with garlic bread, but apparently there were no mussels at the fish market. I went for one of the creamy pasta dishes instead - bacon, peas and mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce over penne. Very nice although I was surprised to get chopped mange-tout when I was expecting actual peas, and of course there was far too much pasta. I had a glass of local Sauvignon Blanc (all wines by the glass were $10) and Nick had a full bodied Shiraz with his Spaghetti Marinara. The seafood comprised scallops, prawns and squid; whether this was standard or whether it too was lacking mussels remained undetermined but I suspect as much. We were too full for dessert. The waiting staff were very friendly and amenable. I was amused to find half way down the corridor on the way to the toilets a do-it-yourself breathalyser machine at $2 a go. We mentioned this to the waitress who chuckled and said it hadn't worked since it was serviced the previous week. Oh, well, good idea!
