I'd picked up a card earlier in the Alpine, the Star's sister restaurant, so much to Nick's surprise I was able to lead him straight to a lobster dinner.
A special of Maine Lobster for 2, a bargain at $50, came with a choice of 2 sides and 2 salads and traditional bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Instead of 2 salads we had a combined mozzarella, tomato & basil salad which the three of us shared. This was plain but delicious, perfectly sliced and dressed and a good omen for the main course. The lobsters were just the right size, large enough for a good meal but small enough to be tasty and our sides - spinach for me, steak fries for Nick were sufficient accompaniment. While we demolished our lobsters T enjoyed Louisiana Crabcakes with 2 sides - green beans and the most gorgeous sweet potato soufflé. We ordered a bottle of Yellowtail Shiraz at $24 before we'd selected the lobster, so we accompanied that with glasses of Pinot Grigiot, drinking the red with the salad and afterwards while we listened to the live jazz.
The underwhelming event of the meal was the bread pudding, but we were not too bothered because the rest of the food had been so good we were full!
