Duke of Edinburgh

Wood Hill, Newgale, Haverfordwest SA62 6AS

A very welcome pub at the northern end of the 3 mile length of Newgale beach, where we stopped for lunch to fortify us ahead of the tough stretch of coastal path to Solva. The bar staff were friendly, and efficient, clearing and adjusting tables to make room for groups. Faced with a choice of several real ales Nick started with a half of "Sea Fury", which was even served in a tankard, while I had my usual half of cider. In this part of the world it meant Strongbow, but you can't win them all! We shared a Prawn Baguette, guessing, with a price tag of £6.50 it would be large enough for two, and we were right. Nick liked the Sea Fury sufficiently to have another rather than trying something different, and we left in fine fettle for the next 5 miles.
