East Hook Farm & Countryhouse B&B

East Hook Farm & Countryhouse B&B

Mount Lane, Portfield Gate, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire SA62 3LN

Be warned, if you're thinking of staying here, East Hook Farm is at the very end of a long drive past several isolated houses and not a few fields. There are a few re-assuring signs at intervals - I think people must have annoyed the neighbours by approaching the wrong houses. When you do eventually reach it, the farmhouse is obvious and there are some self catering "cottages" adjacent. Owner, Jen Patrick, was very welcoming, although we were earlier than the official 4pm check-in time. We were put in the "Trelawney" Room (no. 3) which has a private bathroom opposite. Room 4, a single en-suite is between Room 3 and the bathroom, so dressing robes are provided. The room is under the roof and the space is fully used, with a long shelf under the sloping part holding books, the tea & coffee tray, a kettle, microwave and mini fridge. Fresh milk was offered immediately we arrived. The bed was very comfortable and an equally comfortable armchair was provide with a pleasant view up the drive. One of the windows is set into the roof, so beware of leaving it open if it's likely to rain (speaking from experience!)

Breakfast choices are requested the night before, but most of the items are buffet style if there are several guests and only the cooked options are made to order. The bread is home made so results in the best toast ever! Excellent value for £89 B&B, but note that dinner is not available, so you need a car to go to Haverfordwest or one of the coastal villages to eat.
