The Good Girl

The Good Girl

Fiona Neill

2015 Penguin

Recommendation: Cover blurb

Romy is the "good girl" of the family, who is a responsible, straight A student, who has never been any trouble, allowing her parents time to deal with her difficult younger brother and their own marital issues. However, the arrival of some new unconventional neighbours upsets the equilibrium. Romy is attracted to their son Jay, and tries to help him. Unfortunately the "help" is a pretty stupid (or naive) thing to do, which, abetted by social media, causes family meltdown. Not a psychological thriller, but with quite a lot of tension, even as you suspect where the plot is going, and some nicely portrayed characters.
