14 George Hudson St, York YO1 6LP
On entering this Japanese restaurant in the Oriental quarter of York, we were impressed to see that almost all the diners were actually oriental. This usually indicates that the food is likely to be authentic; here was no exception. We ordered a small jar of warm sake together with a chicken and salmon teriyaki Bento Box and a Sashimi platter. Together they made for an excellent and filling meal, and even with an additional glass of red wine for Nick, the bill was only just over £50. The mixed tempura were particularly good; the sashimi was sliced into sensibly sized pieces, and the whole combination worked together well. The restaurant is quite large but not soullessly so, and there was no need to book on a Thursday evening.
