The bar person told us they had only been open 10 days which didn't tally with web articles from the local paper, implying it had new owners last summer; although she mentioned the name of the owner who runs another pub in the area. It also complicated things because we had to pay for food and drinks separately. Apparently the drinks were Marstons but the food was their own initiative. This figured, as the drinks were cheap - Shiraz on an offer of buy 2 large glasses, get rest of bottle free, making it only £7.30. Cheap for 2 large glasses in a pub, never mind a bottle. The food was fine, but not spectacular - fish and chips for Nick, accompanied by the best restaurant peas he could remember having, and the chips were home made, fresh and crisp. I got some too, with the chef's compliments to go with my mussels in cream and cider, which came with crusty bread. (The chips were better!). Pleasant atmosphere and convenient central location. I hope they prosper.
