Doubletree by Hilton, Lincoln
Brayford Wharf North, Lincoln LN1 1YW
We booked at short notice, and not being Gold loyalty members any more got a room with a view of a brick wall about a metre from the window. The decor and lack of light made the room rather dark and gloomy.
However, the hotel's position half way along Brayford Wharf is pretty impressive. If like us, you don't have a room with a view, the Electric bar on the top floor overlooks the marina and a glass of wine is affordable. We were disinclined to use the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse but unfortunately Brayford Wharf is like all the other waterside developments we've encountered - full of chain restaurants (and of course chain hotels - next door to the Doubletree is a Holiday Inn). However, we were tempted by the Samba Brazilian Rodizio. Link
The Doubletree has a small car park which it is permitted to access from the pedestrian waterfront, but it is cheaper to park as we did in the Lucy Tower Street Multi-storey at the end of the wharf and walk along. If you have a lot of luggage drop this at the hotel reception by car first.
It is a pleasant walk to do a circuit of Brayford Wharf, exploring the development on the north side whilst on the south side are the university buildings. Neither is it far to the commercial and Cathedral quarters.
