Staithe 'n' Willow

Staithe 'n' Willow

16 Lower St, Horning, Norwich NR12 8AA

We hadn't been to Staithe 'n' Willow for some years and remembered it being very good*, so were really pleased when we found an unexpectedly found a mooring space at Horning staithe. The evening menu is limited to half a dozen choices for each course which to my mind is better than a large menu with almost inevitably poorer quality ingredients. We decided we didn't need a starter, and all chose the duck breast with dauphinoise potatoes, vegetables and cherry jus. We all cleared our plates which showed not only how good the food was but also how well judged the portion sizes were.

I even had room for a small dessert - I couldn't resist the idea of a coconut creme brulee. However this was somewhat disappointing being neither as creamy as a traditional brulee, nor really coconutty. Overall a very good meal though.

* Looking on the internet after our visit, it seems that we fortuitously missed a poor period in the restaurant's history.
